Incorporated into Your Teen's Life

Destinations provides a partial-day, Teen Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). When you apply for treatment at one of our facilities, our team will collaborate with you to determine whether your teen belongs in our mental health or dual diagnosis treatment track. The latter combines mental health and addiction treatment. In fact, researchers estimate that between 50-90% of adolescents in treatment for substance-use disorders also have diagnosable mental health issues.

Healing Through Treatment

Teens in our IOP will attend therapy sessions – group, individual, and creative – while parents are strongly encouraged to participate in family sessions. Your teen will meet with our pediatric psychiatrist approximately once a month. Moreover, we integrate the 12-steps into our overall IOP. Our certified alcohol and drug counselors work with teens individually.

A Commitment to Education

We work with your teen’s school to ensure support. Our academic team will assist your teen in catching up, staying on track, and moving ahead with their education. Your teens commitment to academics will remain strong through continuing education at Destinations.

Alumni Support

Having been in their shoes, our alumni are great mentors for teens in the IOP. Weekly meetings with our alumni allow teens in treatment to see how others cope with mental health and addiction disorders. Once a teen transitions into the alumni program, he or she has learned how to maintain sobriety. However, they now have a strong support system to lean on moving forward.

Parental Involvement During Teen Intensive Outpatient Program

Parental involvement is a critical component to our teen treatment programs. During your orientation, you will meet the entire treatment team. This includes the individual and family therapist, education director, nurse, and the clinical director. As a result, you will understand their individual roles and how each of them will interact with you and your teen. We require parents to attend therapy sessions and family education classes. We will work with you to create a schedule for therapeutic visits that will help your teen adjust to his or her new lifestyle.
